Sinakhone Keodara is planning to sue the mobile dating app grindr for racially discriminating against Asians. Keodara claims that the platform allows its users to promote racial discrimination on their profiles and directed towards others.
Keodara is asking for co-plaintiffs to join him–basically any Asian man that felt slighted or rejected on grindr.
“Please spread my call for co-plaintiffs to all your gay Asian men in your life that has been offended, humiliated, degraded and dehumanized by Grindr allowing gay white men to write in their profiles ‘No Asians,’ ‘Not interested in Asians,’ or ‘I don’t find Asians attractive.'”
Part of me feels this is just a publicity stunt as he mentions that he’s the founder of Asian Entertainment Television and is basking in the attention he’s been getting from threatening this seemingly frivolous lawsuit.
My interview on The Washington Post is out. Thanks to @_allysonchiu for giving me a platform to share my story about the @Grindr lawsuit. It’s such an honor to be tied to a cultural touchstone like @jonmchu‘s #CrazyRichAsian movie & how it’s changing the culture. #Grindr #Gaysian https://t.co/Z0H7mGTs2G
